Scenarios: Marketing Components

Effective marketing is required for companies to be successful. Learn how to use each of the three marketing components in building What-If Scenarios.

Marketing Components

Inside the Scenarios tab, once you create or modify a project, you will find the sales components in the upper-right box. There are three different marketing components you may want to include in projects; Event, Advertising, or Public Relations. Read about these three marketing scenarios to get a full understanding of  how to forecast your client's strategic initiatives as accurately as possible.

1. Event 

This marketing component allows you to forecast how much of an impact a marketing event(s) will have on sales over a given period of time.

  1. Start by giving the marketing event a name and decide when and how frequently the event will occur.
  2. Enter one-time startup costs and any ongoing costs that will occur each time this event occurs. 
  3. Enter the projected number of sales per event and how much it will increase over time.
  4. Fill in the expected margin from each sale during this event.
  5. Enter the amount of time it will take to ramp up to full efficiency. 
  6. You must fill out all 7 pieces of information in oder to Add this component to your project.

2. Advertising

  1. Start by giving the advertising campaign a name and decide when the campaign will begin and finish.
  2. Enter one-time startup costs and any ongoing costs that will occur each month throughout the duration of the campaign. 
  3. Enter the anticipated revenue generated from this campaign.
  4. Fill in the expected time until this campaign reaches full efficiency.
  5. You must fill out all 6 pieces of information in oder to Add this component to your project.

3. Public Relations

  1. Start by giving the public relations campaign a name and decide when the campaign will begin. 
  2. Enter one-time startup costs and any ongoing costs that will occur each month throughout the duration of the campaign. 
  3. Next enter how long you expect this campaign to continue.
  4. Fill in the anticipated monthly revenue generated from this campaign and you will be shown the expected additional expenses based on last year's contribution margin.
  5. Enter the expected number of months before generating the anticipated monthly revenue and how long it will continue. 
  6. You must fill out all 8 pieces of information in oder to Add this component to your project.
